“In the AI era, creativity is still the hand holding the pencil — AI just sharpens it faster”
Melis Hansen Studio
At Melis Hansen Studio, we don’t produce — we imagine, shape, and craft worlds. Founded by animation director Carolina Melis, the studio is devoted to the creation of original IPs for animation, with a particular focus on children and young audiences, from preschoolers to young adults.
We specialise in the research and development of bold and distinctive concepts — working at the very first spark of creation, where ideas are still electric, and full of potential. Our work focuses entirely on original IP development, crafting universes and stories ready to be brought to life by production companies and broadcasters who share our vision.
With over 20 years of experience in traditional animation, Carolina now explores the creative possibilities of AI as a trusted ally, blending its generative power with timeless storytelling and contemporary visual languages. By mastering the integration of AI into our pipelines, we shape projects to maximise production efficiency, reducing both time and costs — allowing us to bring original IPs from paper to screen faster, without compromising artistic quality.
The studio’s voice is unmistakable — born from the clarity of Scandinavian design and the playful soul of Italian narratives.
We are currently developing four original IPs — I am Billy, LOLO, Four Furry Friends, and Chck&Roll — each exploring new creative territories where AI and imagination converge under strong artistic direction.
We are always looking for partners who believe in the power of meaningful, well-crafted stories. If this resonates with you, let’s talk.

A button is not just an object. For a child, it is cause, effect, and wonder — all in one touch
Have you ever noticed how much children love to push buttons? They never get tired of it! If you’ve seen that sparkle of joy, then you already understand why LOLO :) is pure paradise for them.
LOLO :) — Light On, Light Off invites young viewers into a playful world where buttons are everywhere — big, small, colorful, mysterious — and every single one leads to a surprise. What happens when you press it? Will the light turn off? Will a dog bark? Will balloons fill the room? Or will something so unexpected happen that it could only exist on screen?
With each button press, LOLO :) turns the everyday action of pushing buttons into a gateway for fun, discovery, and imagination.
The series is more than just a show — it is also an interactive experience, gently introducing children to the fundamental concepts of cause and effect, action and reaction, and of course, on and off.
Title: I am Billy
Format:
Episodes: 52 x 5’ (suggested)
Technique: 2D / AI-generated
Target: Early Viewers (3–5 years)
Language: English and/or Italian
Budget: Available upon request
I am Billy is a preschool series of short-format episodes, introducing toddlers and early viewers to the essential concepts of narrative and logic through direct observation and repetition.
Each episode features Billy, a simple and kind character, who directly addresses the viewer: "I am Billy, and today I’m going to..." — followed by an action focused on cause and effect, opposites, balance, size, or movement.
The series, influenced by Montessori principles, fosters learning by doing and learning by observing, gently helping children to build the foundations of logic and storytelling. Supported by soft sounds, a calm voice-over, and minimal musical cues, I am Billy invites the child to pay attention, reflect, and predict, encouraging an active and intuitive learning process.
Title: Four Furry Friends
Format:
Episodes: 12 x 12’ (suggested)
Technique: 2D / AI-generated + live action
Target: 5–8 years
Language: English and/or Italian
Budget: Available upon request
Have you noticed how dogs and cats are still the undisputed stars of animation? And how obsessed we’ve all become with them? Four Furry Friends takes this fascination to the next level, introducing Ely, Mia, Macchia, and Karl — four cool, funny, and clever animals ready to conquer 2025.
The series unfolds through extended episodes and short animated "pills," following their daily adventures across contemporary cityscapes — from Gay Pride parades to co-working spaces, from padel courts to beauty salons — revealing with humor and tenderness the hidden beauty of urban life.
At its core, Four Furry Friends is about caring: for oneself, for others, and for the world. Each misadventure becomes an opportunity, showing kids (and adults) how imagination and friendship can transform any situation.
With a visually striking style and a classic narrative structure, the series creates a world as trendy and vibrant as it is universal. Complementing the animation, live-action segments feature children reflecting on the stories they’ve just watched — promoting debate, empathy, and critical thinking.
